Tackle Shops
If you are a mad keen fisherman (or woman), then you want the best fishing gear available. But, it can be quite pricey if you shop in the wrong stores. Thankfully, there are a few online stores that offer fishing gear at very reasonable prices. In this post, I will tell you just where to find cheap fishing gear. It is possible to save hundreds of dollars every year by finding cheap fishing gear stores online.
For Australians, try the Fishing Tackle Shop to get some of the cheapest fishing gear on the market. They have great deals on tackle, lures, rods, reels, sunglasses, wetsuits and so much more. If you know another fisherman who needs some gear, buy them a gift voucher.
For all the Americans out there, try Fishing Tackle Unlimited. They usually have the best prices of any online store. You can pick up some books, DVD's, shirts, tools, hooks, nets and lights. There is also the usual tackle, lures, rods and reels. You can pay with most major credit cards and have the cheap fishing gear delivered to your door!
If you are after really cheap fishing gear you can check out the new Discount Fishing Tackle Store, which has updated listings from all over the web to ensure you get a bargain.

The Great White Sharks
Great White Sharks are the largest predatory fish in the sea. Great White Shark meat is not recommended for human consumption because it has very high mercury levels. Great White Sharks try to avoid fighting for food. When there is only enough food for one, they have a tail-slapping contest. The sharks swim past each other, each slapping the surface of the water with their tails, and often directing the spray toward the other shark. The one who gets the meal is the shark that delivers the most tail slaps. Great White sharks live along the coasts of all continents except Antarctica. The Great White Shark have an enormous liver that can weigh up to 24 percent of its entire weight. A Great White Shark may use and lose more than one thousand teeth in its life time. The Great White Shark is not all white. The shark's back may be dark blue, gray, brown or black. The Great White Shark lives for about 25 years. A Great White Shark is capable of eating sea lions whole. Great White Sharks rarely attack people and when they do, it is because they mistaken the person for their usual seal prey. Great Whites often have scratches and scars on their snouts which resulted from their prey fighting back. Scientists estimate that after a big meal, a Great White Shark can last up to three months before needing another one. A Great White Shark can roll its eyeballs back, which protects the vital front part of the eye from being scratched. Young Great White Sharks eat Leopard Sharks. A Great White Shark was once kept in an aquarium for a few days, but it became disoriented, continually hitting its nose against the glass, so it had to be released into the sea. The biggest Great White Shark ever caught was off Prince Edward Island in 1993. It was 20 feet long. In one year, a single Great White consumes about 11 tons of food. Some scientists believe there are less than 10,000 Great White Sharks in the entire world. Great White Sharks breed late in life. They do not start breeding until they're at least twenty years old. More than 70 percent of known victims of Great White Shark Attacks survive because the shark realizes it has made a mistake and doesn't finish off the prey. Great White Sharks are no match for Orcas in a fight. Orcas, better known as Killer Whales, sometimes hunt in packs plus they are too fast and strong for even the biggest Great Whites. Orcas have been known to kill and eat them as well.

Bass Fishing
Everyday it seems that more and more of the general public (men, women, boys, and girls) are starting to take notice that there may be just a bit more to bass fishing that meets the eye than just the Sunday morning bass fishing shows they see on TV. Why is this so? They see bass fishing in regular TV commercials. I'm sure that you have seen the commercial where three men are in a boat, fishing with artificial lures, and one of them throws his lure around a tree branch, and the spokesman says "even the fish are comfortable". This advertisement is about clothing! "Jeans." How about in the grocery stores? Yes, even in food stores you will find a picture of a famous Bass Pro on a box of Wheaties. Or, turn on a sports outdoors network anytime during the week and you will find many TV fishing shows geared towards bass fishing. Almost any swamp, lake, river, pond, or sloughs if accessible by boats, you will find bass anglers. Or, how about all the bass boats constantly going up and down our highways behind tow rigs. It's just about everywhere we look!
Bass fishing at the present is considered to be America's #1 freshwater sport, in fact the bass fishing industry is grown to be 70% higher than any other types of fresh water fishing.
Try this for example: if you go to most of the Internet search engines and type in the words "bass fishing," 90 % of the search engines will list many different types of bass fishing related sites. In the past 25 years bass fishing has grown from a million-dollar industry to an estimated 4.8 billion-dollar industry in today's world and still growing each and every day.
So what's so great about it? Let's start by saying this is one outdoor sport that just about anyone who dedicates and disciplines himself or herself can equally compete on a pro level. Not like other types of professional sports such as football, soccer, basketball, and tennis where you have to be a top athlete and prove extraordinary abilities to become a successful pro. With bass fishing it's quite different. Yes, the more time you spend on the water, the more you practice, and the more you learn the "How-To's" of bass angling you can't help but to be more successful at catching bass. Especially if you have a coach or someone as a mentor to teach you patterns, conditions, presentations, techniques, colors, proper equipment and so on. There is a lot to learn when it comes to competitive bass fishing, but if you want to be serious about it you can compete on a pro level. I have taught several anglers that just couldn't seem to excel when it came to fishing bass tournaments until I was able to teach them several of the "How-To's" used by many of the Pro's. Now these same anglers are consistent money winners and much more successful at catching bass.
The bass fishing industry also offers a wide variety of careers: Guiding (charters), Sales (the retail industry connected with bass fishing is a giant in itself), Tournament Competition, Lecturing, Advertising, Promotional Opportunities, and on and on!
I feel that one of the best traits of bass fishing is it offers closer relationships and bonding with loved ones. I've noticed that when married couples enroll in my bass fishing school, after the time spent together on the water along with the excitement of catching bass together and the laughs and enjoyment they share, it seems that they all conclude they should have done this years ago! I have experienced all this and much more with father and sons, mother and daughters, father and daughters, mother and sons, boyfriends and girlfriends, brothers and brothers, sisters and sisters. It is truly an outdoor sport that literally just about anybody would enjoy. I especially enjoy the time spent on the water with my wife when we have a chance to get out on the water for a few hours of bass fishing. And guess what? Women actually make better anglers than men! Sorry guys, and please don't take this wrong, but this is probably due of the level of their patience. I don't know this for sure but I have noticed that a female can work a plastic worm or different presentations with certain baits with the patience needed to catch bass, where sometimes the men have the tendency to over work a bait. Try it and see for yourself!
More and more females each season are starting to book into my school to learn how to fish just to be able to show their husbands or boyfriends that they can do it to. Well, why not? It's a sport that's been enjoyed for many, many years by mostly the guys. Now that the women are getting a taste of it, they love it just as much as the guys do.
Kid's even seem to go "nuts" over this sport even probably more so than we do! I know this because of the clients that bring their children when they book a fishing trip or enroll in my school. Just seeing their expressions on their faces when they catch a bass seems to be worth it all! Along with the many E-mails and letters I receive from boys and girls from all over the nation, the kids are wanting to know more and more about how to fish for bass, where can they go to learn, or who might be able teach them. The age of most of these boys and girls that write me range anywhere from 12 years to 18 years old, as well as many college students.
The slogan that says, "Get Kids Hooked On Fishing Instead Of Drugs" makes a lot of sense to me. What better way to get closer to your children than by spending quality time together outdoors having fun? But that's only part of it! It also allows them to focus on something more than parties and getting into trouble.
So "Why Bass Fishing?" Well, all I can say is "Try it and see for yourself."
Until next time! Take Care & God Bless!

Making Plans
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”
This famous saying from John Lennon reflects a paradox in our lives. Many of us would like to have a peaceful ride, enjoy the present moment, yet we can’t help but make future plans so we feel secure, or we spend time digging on past hurts. Lennon doesn’t say we shouldn’t make plans, but that the true experience of being alive is beyond those plans, and “happens” to us.
At first view, this seems to negate any personal will, since the right answer to life would be to embrace it instead of trying to direct it, but it might just be that free will should be redirected from the content of our lives to its approach: Instead of using our free will to decide what should come next, we’d use it to choose between ego or letting go, between a life ruled by our mind or a life in tune with a higher intelligence. For most people, this higher intelligence only seems to manifest when their life flows: important meetings happen, synchronicities lead to a new path and something mysterious seems to be pulling the strings. The willingness to not resist whatever life is putting on the road determines how long the ride will last. Then, one day, the ego-mind takes back its throne, doubt arises and the magical path vanishes. Guidance seems no longer there.
To stay on the path we must trust, live in the present, and let go of fear. In other words, behaviors we have not been taught growing up, so deconditioning is necessary. Learned behaviors are often a source of false security and self-limitation. Unfortunately, any mind work on deconditioning will only take us so far: “you cannot remove a thorn with a thorn” as the Buddhists say. The ego-mind will always fight its way to the director seat, reverting to its lower patterns as soon as it is threaten by change. To get rid of the ego is impossible, to put it as a servant of this higher intelligence is the answer.
Trust is the first step: Faith is beyond the ego-mind. By trusting something unknown, limitless and wise, you jump over the illusory self-limitations of the mind, hence opening the door to higher guidance and purpose. The place you create from is no longer the result of years of self-definition but the unlimited potential this higher intelligence has in reserve for you. So co-creation happens at a different level: not the level where your thoughts create your reality but the level where your alignment with the higher intelligence of your life allows you to receive its energy. What you manifest then is no longer the fruit of an illusion, the product of something as fleeting as the mind. You manifest from the higher intent behind your life. True purpose lies outside of the ego-mind’s grasp.
Living in the present is a necessary condition for this higher intelligence to manifest. Calling on past experiences to evaluate something only brings more mind in and ego tries to direct the game again. Wondering about the future makes us want to control it. To live in the present means to not resist life’s experiences, even the painful ones. The wisdom behind most spiritual practices is to see pain as a teacher of letting go. Whether it is the pain of sitting in meditation, of constant thinking or of emotional upheaval, the realization that these pains disappear in an awakened state of consciousness is a perfect training ground for daily life.
As we develop this simple awareness of the present moment and the willingness to experience life without the veil of mind, our fears evaporate. We go from the realm of ego to the realm of being, we surrender to the music and we become the dance. Life happens.

Change for Life
When was the last time you met someone who said, “Um, can you please reject me? I mean, I really thrive and feel amazing about myself in atmospheres of rejection and hatred.”
Nope, doesn’t happen. Why? Because we were made for love.
Just turn on the radio and television for ten minutes to find out what the human heart is searching for. Our movies are centered around it, our reality shows showcase people fighting for it, and just about every pop star can’t stop singing about it. The human heart wants to be loved. In Brain Rules for Baby, Dr. John Medina describes how the ultimate environment for babies to thrive and grow is in a place of love and affection. That’s right, even science proves that our brains work best when we know that we’re loved.
I’m safe to say that because wounded people wound people, you probably didn’t get the love and affection you needed, regardless of how amazing your parents are. We’re imperfect beings in an imperfect world, and we pass on whatever has been passed on to us. When you didn’t get the love you needed, or when it was perverted and cruel, your heart endured emotional trauma. Trauma is anything that has happened where your capacity for pain exceeds your capacity for joy.
If you’re anything like me, you had a lot of trauma according to that definition.
My first memory of life outside of the home was sexual, so every time I looked in the mirror, all I could see were all the horrible things that had been done and said to me. So to make up for it, I became the queen of perfectionism, attempting to hide the shame of my past behind achievements and a perfected exterior. But no matter how hard I tried to sweep the pain under the rug, the emptiness was like a monster inside my heart, and I lived every breath to numb and escape life.
Pain was a reality stronger than love, so for years, I tried everything from drugs, alcohol and boys to overachieving, perfectionism, and food. But no matter what I did to my body, it never permanently satisfied my soul. In fact, I kept finding myself enslaved to counterfeit affections that simply put a quick bandaid over fatal heart wounds. I might have found temporary release from a food binge or a drunken stupor, but it never healed my problem.
And my problem was a heart starving for the medicine of unconditional love.
In order to ever find permanent peace and healing, each of us must realize that the drugs, alcohol, food, sex, pornography, perfectionism, overachieving, control, eating disorders, obsessive compulsions, money, and fame we long for will never heal the pain of the past. These things might keep us distracted from the truth we carry inside, but they will always be temporary solutions to permanent problems.
For years, I felt like a tree whose branches produced baskets of bad fruit. Every time I tried to get rid of the destructive behaviors (my eating disorder, weight problem, insecurity, self-hatred, anger, control), something would always grow back in its place. In order for the fruit of my life to change, I had to go after the root. And the root system needed the unconditional love I was created for.
No matter your religious orientation, I believe and have experienced God as the personification of Unconditional Love. As amazing as my hubby is, my parents, and friends, they will never be able to fully love me unconditionally. There’s only one who I believe can do that, and that’s the God who made me. Unconditional love, at its very essence, means it’s without condition, so you can’t earn it, be good enough for it, perform for it, or lose it. You have to simply receive it.
Receiving love into the places of my deepest pain and greatest shame healed me in a way that no earthly medicine ever could. I live my life to abide under the waterfall of affection God has for me–pouring buckets of sticky-sweet unconditional love into the places I believed were unlovable. But when you’re seen and loved as you are, believe me, you change from the inside-out.
You cannot change yourself. You can only be loved into wholeness. And there’s One waiting to do just that.

Firsts with Chris Rossi
First 39 ½ off?
Miami, Fall of 1999. It was my first trip down there and the conditions were perfect. Going to two ball at 39, I exploded through the wakes and crashed hard. Turns out the rope broke and I was getting a re-ride! I composed myself, jumped back in the lake and smoked my first 39 in a tournament.

First Pro Contest?
It was the Orlando pro tour, 1999 or 2000. I was standing on the dock with guys I had idolized from the tour growing up. My knees were knocking and my heart rate was off the chart. I ended up with 4 at 35 and went home with my tail tucked between my legs.

First Sponsor?
Definitely my parents, I owe them the biggest thank you for investing so much time and energy into me as a person and a skier. My first sponsor check came from Connelly when I won the 1989 National Championships.

First Kill?
I hunted as a kid but never had any success. After high school, I took a 10-year hiatus to follow my skiing dreams but in 2007 my father invited me on his annual hunting trip. Within fifteen minutes of being in the woods I saw a huge buck. Call it beginners luck!

First time at Radar Lake?
The first time I drove in there my jaw dropped. A pristine man made ski lake built by Herb O’Brien, surrounded by a bunch of old trees with astonishing views of the Cascade Mountain Range, and a history that dates back to 1972. It was a highlight of my career to take my first set at Radar Lake and every set since then has been a memorable one.

African Watersports is the first well-established dive charter (RUNNING FOR TEN YEARS AND WE ARE ONLY GETTING BETTER!) concerned with the exploration and preservation of Aliwal Shoal South Africa.
We can truly say that summer is here again. During the month of September we have had some really good dives and mostly saw Duskys and Black tips, which are common for these months. The Tiger Shark dive is one of the most exclusive dives that South Africa has to offer. This is one of the only places in the world that divers have the opportunity to see these magnificent creatures in their own environment. Tiger sharks can be seen throughout the whole year, but the season starts in November and carries on all the way through to August.
